How alone sits the city that was full of people! She has become like a widow, who was once great among the nations, a princess among the nations, but now has come under tribute.

He has stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

You have spurned the covenant of Your servant; You have dishonored his crown on the ground.

Say to the king and to the queen mother, Humble yourselves; sit down, for your dominion has come down, even the crown of your glory.

thus says the Lord Jehovah: Remove the turban, and take off the crown; nothing shall remain as it was. Exalt the humble, and humble the exalted.

Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have affliction ten days. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

The expression of their faces witnesses against them; they have declared their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have recompensed evil upon themselves.

Woe to the wicked! For the evil, the recompense of his hand, shall be done unto him.

Have you not brought this upon yourself, in that you have forsaken Jehovah your God, when He led you by the way?

Your own evil shall correct you, and your backslidings shall reprove you. Therefore know and see that it is an evil and bitter thing that you have forsaken Jehovah your God, and that My fear is not in you, says the Lord Jehovah of Hosts.

Your way and your doings have procured these things for you; this is your evil, because it is bitter, because it reaches to your heart.

Every hand will be feeble, and every knee will be as weak as water.

They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be like filthiness; their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of Jehovah; they will not satisfy their souls, nor fill their stomachs, because it is the stumbling block of their iniquity.

And I will give it as plunder into the hands of strangers, and to the wicked of the earth as spoils; and they shall defile it.

In you they take bribes to shed blood; you take usury and increase; you have made profit from your neighbors by extortion, and have forgotten Me, declares the Lord Jehovah.

Can your heart endure, or can your hands remain strong, in the days when I shall deal with you? I, Jehovah, have spoken, and will do it.

You shall defile yourself in the eyes of the nations; and you shall know that I am Jehovah.

For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;

and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those intending to live ungodly;
