For the arrows of the Almighty are within me; my spirit drinks in their poison; the terrors of God are arrayed against me.

Have I sinned? What have I done to You, O Watcher of men? Why have You set me as Your target, so that I am a burden to myself?

I was at ease, but He has shattered me; He also has taken hold on my neck, and dashed me to pieces; He has set me up for His target.

His archers surround me; He pierces my heart and does not pity; He pours out my gall on the ground.

If he does not turn back, He will sharpen His sword; He has bent His bow and made it ready.

He has also prepared instruments of death for him; He makes His arrows hotly pursue.

For Your arrows pierce me, and Your hand presses down upon me.
