How alone sits the city that was full of people! She has become like a widow, who was once great among the nations, a princess among the nations, but now has come under tribute.

How the gold has become dim; the fine gold has changed! The stones of the sanctuary are poured out at the head of every street.

You have wrapped Yourself with anger and pursued us; You have slain; You have not spared.

You have wrapped Yourself with a cloud to keep prayer from passing through.

At Tahpanhes the day shall also be darkened, when I break the yokes of Egypt there. And her arrogant strength shall come to an end in her; as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.

When I extinguish you, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light.

The beauty of Israel is slain on your high places! How the mighty have fallen!

Our holy and beautiful house, where our fathers praised You, is burned up with fire; and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

As for the beauty of His ornaments, He set it in majesty; but they made from it the images of their abominations; their detestable things; therefore I have made it like refuse to them.

I will turn My face from them, and they will defile My secret place; for violent ones shall enter it and defile it.

Exalt Jehovah our God, and bow down at His footstool; He is holy.

Let us go into His tabernacle; let us bow down at His footstool.
