For even your brothers and the house of your father, even they have dealt treacherously with you. Yea, they have called out a multitude after you. Do not believe them, though they speak pleasant things to you.

They speak vanity each one with his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.

Jehovah shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things,

Lust is in its midst; oppression and guile do not depart from its streets.

For it is not an enemy who reproaches me, then I could bear it. It is not one who hates me who magnified himself against me, or I would hide myself from him;

He who hates, disguises it with his lips, and lays up deceit within himself.

When he speaks graciously, do not believe him; for there are seven abominations in his heart.

Put no faith in a companion; put no trust in a friend; keep the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom;

for the son dishonors the father; the daughter rises up against her mother; the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues.

And brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and put them to death.

Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.

For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;

And you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death.

And he said, Your brother came with deceit and has taken away your blessing.

And Esau said, Is he not rightly called by the name Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright, and now behold, he has taken away my blessing! And he said, Have you not reserved a blessing for me?

And He said, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have persevered with God and with men, and have prevailed.

that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.

They all stubbornly rebel, walking in slanders; they are bronze and iron; they are all corrupters.

You shall not go about as a talebearer among your people; nor shall you take a stand against the blood of your neighbor: I am Jehovah.

he who does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend;

These six things Jehovah hates; yea, seven are an abomination to his soul:

a false witness who breathes lies, and he who spreads strife among brothers.

He who hides hatred with lying lips, and he who sends out a slander, is a fool.

A man who bears false witness against his neighbor is like a club, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

In you are men who slander to cause bloodshed; in you they eat on the mountains; in your midst they commit lewdness.

Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,

as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby,
