An appalling and horrible thing has happened in the land.

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their own power; and my people love to have it so, and what will you do in the end?

And Jehovah said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in My name; I did not send them, nor have I commanded them, nor did I speak to them. They prophesy to you a false vision and a worthless divination, and a thing of no value, and the deceit of their heart.

Jehovah says, Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams and tell them, and cause My people to go astray by their lies and by their foolishness. Yet I did not send them nor command them; therefore they shall not profit this people at all, says Jehovah.

Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, Hear the Word of Jehovah!

O Israel, your prophets are like foxes in the deserts.

The conspiracy of her prophets in her midst is like a roaring lion tearing the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in her midst.

They each one helped his neighbor, and said to his brother, Be strong.

So the craftsman encourages the refiner, and he who smooths with the hammer, him who struck the anvil, saying of the soldering, It is good. And he makes it steady with nails so that it will not be shaken.

Her heads judge for a bribe, and her priests teach for pay, and her prophets divine for money; yet they lean on Jehovah, saying, Is not Jehovah among us? No evil can come upon us.

Her prophets are wanton, treacherous people; her priests have profaned the sanctuary; they have done violence to the Law.

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.

And many will follow their destructive ways, through whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.

Therefore thus says Jehovah, Ask now among the nations; who has heard the likes of this? The virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.

because they have done disgraceful things in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and have spoken lying words in My name, which I have not commanded them; for I am He who knows and is a witness, says Jehovah.

having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls; having a heart exercised in covetousness; accursed children.

but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man's voice restrained the madness of the prophet.

For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through wantonness, the ones who have actually escaped from those living in error.

They speak to those who despise Me, promising, Jehovah has said, You shall have peace! And they say to everyone who walks after the stubbornness of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you!

I have heard what the prophets have said, who prophesy lies in My name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Indeed, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart,

Jehovah says, Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams and tell them, and cause My people to go astray by their lies and by their foolishness. Yet I did not send them nor command them; therefore they shall not profit this people at all, says Jehovah.

The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,

And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,

speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared,

And the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he led astray those who received the mark of the beast and those who did homage to his image. These two were cast alive into the Lake of Fire burning with brimstone.

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, prostitutes, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

But outside are dogs and sorcerers and prostitutes and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and produces a lie.

Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not pained; and you have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that he does not turn from his wicked way to restore his life.

Therefore you shall no longer see vanity nor divine divinations; for I will deliver My people out of your hand, and you shall know that I am Jehovah.

But the men of Sodom were exceedingly evil and sinful before Jehovah.

And Jehovah said, The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and their sin is exceedingly heavy.

For their vine is of the vine of Sodom and of the fields of Gomorrah; their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter.

Except Jehovah of Hosts had left us a small remnant, we would be as Sodom; we would be as Gomorrah.

Hear the Word of Jehovah, you rulers of Sodom. Give heed to the Law of our God, you people of Gomorrah.

And your older sister is Samaria, who dwells with her daughters to the north of you; and your younger sister, who dwells to the south of you, is Sodom and her daughters.

As I live, declares the Lord Jehovah, neither your sister Sodom nor her daughters have done as you and your daughters have done.

And they were haughty and committed abomination before Me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit.

You who judged your sisters, bear your own shame also, because your sins were more abominable than theirs; they are more righteous than you. Yes, be disgraced also, and bear your own shame, because you justified your sisters.

But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.

and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those intending to live ungodly;

as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after other flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
