The priests did not say, Where is Jehovah? And they who handle the Law did not know Me; the shepherds also rebelled against Me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.

And though they say, As Jehovah lives; surely they swear falsely.

Gideon said to Him, O my lord, if Jehovah is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, Did not Jehovah bring us up from Egypt? But now Jehovah has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

And he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, Where is Jehovah the God of Elijah? And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.

But no one says, Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night,

I have considered the days of old, the years of antiquity.

And there is no one who calls upon Your name, who stirs up himself to take hold of You. For You have hidden Your face from us, and have melted us away because of our iniquities.

And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying:

For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are perplexed by the land; the wilderness has closed them in.

And it was told the king of Egypt that the people had fled, and the heart of Pharaoh and his servants was turned against the people; and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?

And he took six hundred choice chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt with officers over every one of them.

And the Egyptians pursued them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen and his army, and overtook them camping by the sea beside Pi Hahiroth, before Baal Zephon.

And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt so with us, to bring us up out of Egypt?

And Moses said to the people, Do not be afraid. Take your stand, and see the salvation of Jehovah, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall not see again forever.

And Jehovah said to Moses, Why do you cry out to Me? Speak to the children of Israel that they set out.

In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them; in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.

Then He remembered the days of old, Moses and His people, saying, Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within him;

He led them through the deep, like a horse in the wilderness, so that they might not stumble.

And by a prophet Jehovah brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was protected.

Yet I am Jehovah your God, ever since the land of Egypt; and you shall know no other gods but Me. For there is no Savior besides Me.

Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus says Jehovah, I remember you, the kindness of your youth, the love of your betrothals, when you went after Me in the wilderness, in a land not sown.

when your heart is lifted up, and you forget Jehovah your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers had not known, to humble you and to test you, to do you good in the end;

He found him in a desert land and in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the pupil of His eye.

Let darkness and the shadow of death redeem it; let a cloud settle on it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

before I go and not return; to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;

a land of darkness and gloom, as the shadow of death, without any order; where it shines as darkness.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

The people who sat in darkness have seen a great Light, and upon those sitting in the region and shadow of death, Light has sprung up.
