Rejected silver they call them, because Jehovah has rejected them.

Then Jehovah said to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before Me, My soul could not be inclined toward this people. Send them out of My sight, and let them go out.

Also Judah did not keep the commandments of Jehovah their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they had made.

And Jehovah rejected all the seed of Israel, afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of plunderers, until He had cast them away from before His face.

When God heard this, He was angry, and greatly despised Israel,

Why have You broken down its hedges, so that all who pass by the way pluck its fruit?

The boar out of the woods tears it up, and the wild beast of the field devours it.

But You have cast off and rejected, You have passed over Your anointed.

unless You have utterly rejected us. You have been very angry against us.

I say then, has God cast away His people? Let it not be! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

Lord, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.

Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

My inheritance is to Me as a lion in the forest; it cries out against Me; therefore I have hated it.

I also cut off three shepherds in one month. And My soul loathed them, and their soul also abhorred Me.

Then I said, I will not feed you; that which dies, let it die; and that which is to be cut off, let it be cut off. And let the ones remaining, each woman, eat the flesh of her neighbor.

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the healing of the daughter of my people not come?

Why has my pain been continual, and my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? You surely are to me like deceitful waters that cannot be trusted.

But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, to make the wrath of Jehovah swell up against His people, till there was no healing.

What can I testify for you? To what thing shall I compare you, O daughter of Jerusalem? To what shall I equal you, so that I may comfort you, O virgin daughter of Zion? For your break is great like the sea! Who can heal you?

We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, but behold, terror!

But when I looked for good, evil came; and when I waited for light, then came darkness.

As for us, our eyes failed, watching in vain for our help; in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.

For when they say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall by no means escape.
