I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint within me.

For the ruin of the daughter of my people I am broken; I am in gloom; horror has seized me.

Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and my eye shall weep and cry and run down with tears, because Jehovah's flock is taken captive.

O Jehovah the God of Hosts, how long will You be angry against the prayer of Your people?

You have fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink a third time.

Rivers of water run down from my eyes, because they do not keep Your Law.

For these I weep; my eye, my eye runs down with water, because the comforter who could refresh my soul is far from me. My children are desolate because the enemy has prevailed.

Their heart cried unto the Lord. O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night; give yourself no rest. Let not the daughter of your eye be silent.

Streams of water run down my eyes for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

My eyes flow and do not cease, with no stopping,

this is the word which Jehovah has spoken concerning him: The virgin, the daughter of Zion, has despised you and laughed you to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head behind you.

The Lord has trampled all my mighty ones in my midst; He has called a gathering against me to crush my young men. The Lord has trodden the virgin daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.

What can I testify for you? To what thing shall I compare you, O daughter of Jerusalem? To what shall I equal you, so that I may comfort you, O virgin daughter of Zion? For your break is great like the sea! Who can heal you?

The virgin of Israel has fallen, and will not rise again; she lies forsaken on her land; there is no one to raise her up.

All your lovers have forgotten you; they do not seek you. For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the abundance of your iniquity, because your sins are many.

Why do you cry over your break? Your pain is incurable, because of the abundance of your iniquities; because your sins have increased, I have done these things to you.

Remove Your stroke away from me; I am destroyed by the blow of Your hand.

Therefore I also will make you sick by striking you, making you desolate because of your sins.
