You have increased the nation, O Jehovah, You have increased the nation; You are glorified; You have extended it to the ends of the earth.

And Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive the rest of the people who remained in the city and the defectors who had fallen out to the king of Babylon, with the rest of the multitude.

And the king of Babylon struck them and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive from its land.

And I will make them a horror to all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, for what he did in Jerusalem.

These are the people whom Nebuchadnezzar took captive: in the seventh year, three thousand and twenty-three Jews;

in the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took captive seven hundred and forty-five persons of the Jews. All the persons were four thousand and six hundred.

Every city shall flee at the sound of the horsemen and bowmen. They shall go into thickets and climb up among the rocks. Every city is abandoned, and not a man shall live in them.

I have forsaken My house; I have left My inheritance. I have given the dearly beloved of My soul into the hand of her enemies.

Why do You forget us forever and forsake us for such a long time?

I say then, has God cast away His people? Let it not be! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying,

For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their reception be but life from the dead?
