Woe to those who join house to house, laying field to field, until there is no more space for you to dwell alone in the midst of the earth!

Jehovah of Hosts said in my ears, Truly many big and pleasant houses shall be laid waste, without inhabitant.

Yea, they are greedy dogs which never have enough. And they are shepherds who cannot understand; they all look to their own way, every one for his own gain, to his own end.

For everyone from the least of them even to the greatest of them profits from unjust gain; and from the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely.

Therefore I will give their wives to others, and their fields to those who shall inherit them, for everyone from the least even to the greatest profits from unjust gain. From the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely.

But your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your unjust gain, and for shedding innocent blood, and for oppression, and to do violence.

So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they act out love, but their hearts go after their unjust gain.

And they covet and seize fields and houses, and carry them away. And they oppress a man and his household, even a man and his inheritance.

Therefore thus says Jehovah: Behold, I am devising evil against this family, from which you shall not remove your necks; nor shall you walk haughtily, for this is an evil time.

And He said to them, Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.

But sexual perversion and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

For this you know, that no prostitute, unclean person, nor covetous person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: sexual perversion, uncleanness, passion, evil lusts, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

But those who purpose to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which plunge people into ruin and destruction.

By covetousness they will exploit you with well-turned words; whose judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls; having a heart exercised in covetousness; accursed children.

And I will wait on Jehovah, who hides His face from the house of Jacob; and I will watch for Him.

Truly You are a Mighty God who hides Yourself, O God of Israel, the Savior.

For the people do not turn to Him who strikes them, nor do they seek Jehovah of Hosts.

In vain I have chastened your children; they received no correction. Your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

O Jehovah, are not Your eyes on the truth? You have stricken them, but they have not grieved; You have destroyed them, but they have refused to receive correction; they have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to return.

But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be destitute.

And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the husks that the swine ate, and no one gave to him.

Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire. This is also vanity and striving of spirit.
