And He said, Go, and tell this people, You listen to hear, but do not understand; you look to see, but do not perceive.

Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, and be healed.

Jehovah, when Your hand is lifted up, they will not see; but they shall see and be ashamed for their envy toward the people. Yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them.

For Jehovah has poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes; He has covered the prophets and your heads, the seers.

And the vision of all has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which they give to one who is literate saying, Please read this; and he says, I cannot, for it is sealed.

Who is blind but My servant? Or deaf, as My messenger whom I sent? Who is blind as he who is perfect, and blind as Jehovah's servant?

You see many things, but do not observe; opening the ears, but no one hears.

Now hear this, O foolish people, without understanding; who have eyes and see not; who have ears and hear not.

Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

for the heart of this people has grown dull, their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, that they should not see with their eyes, nor hear with their ears, nor understand with their heart and convert, and I should heal them.

Therefore they were not able to believe, because Isaiah said again:

He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, that they should not see with their eyes, that they should not understand with their hearts and be turned, and I should heal them.

The Lord Jehovah has opened My ear, and I was not rebellious, nor turned away backwards.

Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; my ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You have not asked.

You have sifted through my way of life and my lying down, and are familiar with all my ways.

To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ears are uncircumcised, and they cannot give heed. Behold, the Word of Jehovah is a reproach to them; they have no delight in it.

because I knew that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew and your brow bronze.

An intense vision is declared to me: The deceiver deals treacherously, and the plunderer devastates. Go up, O Elam; besiege, O Media! I have caused all her sighing to cease.

And after she had done all these things I said, Turn back to Me! But she did not return. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

So it came to pass through the wantonness of her harlotry, that she defiled the land and committed adultery with stones and pieces of wood.

And Jehovah said to me, Backsliding Israel has shown herself to be more righteous than treacherous Judah.

For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against Me, says Jehovah.

They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah, for they have brought forth strange sons. Now a new moon shall devour them with their heritage.

But, like Adam, they have transgressed the covenant; they have dealt treacherously against Me there.

Judah has dealt treacherously, and has done an abomination in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the holiness of Jehovah, which He loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.

Remember; do not forget how you provoked Jehovah your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you departed from the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against Jehovah.

When I went up into the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which Jehovah had made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water.

And it came to pass, at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Jehovah had given me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant.

Furthermore Jehovah spoke to me, saying, I have seen this people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people.

So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire; and the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands.

And I took the two tablets and threw them out of my two hands and broke them before your eyes.

For I was afraid of the anger and fury with which Jehovah had been angry with you, to destroy you. But Jehovah gave heed to me at that time also.

And I took your sin, the calf which you had made, and burned it with fire and crushed and ground it thoroughly, until it was as fine as dust; and I threw its dust into the brook that was coming down from the mountain.

Likewise, when Jehovah sent you from Kadesh Barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you, then you rebelled against the mouth of Jehovah your God, and you did not believe Him nor obey His voice.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from the belly, speaking lies.

and say, Thus says the Lord Jehovah to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth are from the land of Canaan; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.

No eye pitied you, to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you; but you were thrown out into the open field, for you yourself were loathed on the day you were born.

among whom also we all formerly conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others;
