But they and our fathers acted presumptuously, hardened their necks, and did not heed Your commandments,

and refused to obey, and they were not mindful of Your wonders that You did among them. But they hardened their necks, and in their rebellion they appointed a leader to return to their bondage. But You are God, ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abundant in kindness; and did not forsake them.

Even when they made a molten calf for themselves, and said, This is your god that brought you up out of Egypt, and worked great blasphemies;
19
yet in Your manifold mercies You did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of the cloud did not depart from them by day, to lead them on the road; nor the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way they should go.
20
You also gave Your good Spirit to teach them, and did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst.

Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness. They lacked nothing; their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell.

Moreover You gave them kingdoms and nations, and divided them into districts. So they took possession of the land of Sihon, the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.

You also multiplied their children as the stars of the heavens, and brought them into the land which You had commanded their fathers to go in and possess it.

So the people went in and possessed the land; You subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gave them into their hands, with their kings and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they pleased.

And they captured strong cities and a rich land, and took possession of houses full of all goods, wells already dug, vineyards, olive groves, and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate and were filled and grew fat, and lived luxuriously in Your great goodness.

Nevertheless they were disobedient and rebelled against You, cast Your Law behind their backs and killed Your prophets, who testified against them to turn them to Yourself; and they worked great blasphemies.
27
Therefore You delivered them into the hand of their enemies, who distressed them; and in the time of their trouble, when they cried out to You, You heard from Heaven; and according to Your abundant mercies You gave them deliverers who saved them out of the hand of their enemies.
28
But after they had rest, they returned to doing evil before You. Therefore You left them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had dominion over them; yet when they returned and cried out to You, You heard from Heaven; and many times You delivered them according to Your mercies,
29
and testified against them, that You might bring them back to Your Law. Yet they acted presumptuously, and did not heed Your commandments, but sinned against Your judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them. And they shrugged their shoulders, stiffened their necks, and would not obey.
30
Yet for many years You had patience with them, and testified against them by Your Spirit by the hand of Your prophets. Yet they would not listen; therefore You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.
31
Nevertheless in Your great mercy You did not annihilate them nor forsake them; for You are the Mighty God, gracious and merciful.
32
Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and awesome Mighty God, who keeps covenant and mercy: Do not let all the trouble seem small before You that has found us, our kings and our rulers, our priests and our prophets, our fathers and all Your people, since the days of the kings of Assyria until this day.
33
However You are just in all that has come upon us; for You have dealt faithfully, but we have done wickedly.
34
Neither our kings nor our princes, our priests nor our fathers, have kept Your Law, nor paid attention to Your commandments and Your testimonies, with which You testified against them.
35
For they have not served You in their kingdom, nor in the great goodness that You gave them, nor in the large and rich land which You set before them; nor did they turn from their evil works.
36
Here we are, servants this day! And the land that You gave to our fathers, to eat its fruit and its bounty; behold, we are servants in it.
37
And it yields much increase to the kings You have set over us, because of our sins; also they have dominion over our bodies and our cattle at their pleasure; and we are in great distress.
Psalm 78:1-72
1
i1 [Maschil of Asaph.] i0 par Give ear, O my people, to my instruction; extend your ears to the words of my mouth.
2
I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old,
3
which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4
We will not hide them from their children, recounting to the following generation the praises of Jehovah, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.
5
For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a Law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should declare them to their children;
6
that the following generation might know them, the children who would be born, that they might arise and recount them to their children,
7
that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of the Mighty God, but keep His commandments;
8
and might not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not set its heart aright, and whose spirit has not been faithful to the Mighty God.
9
The sons of Ephraim, being armed to shoot with their bows, turned back in the day of battle.
10
They did not keep the Covenant of God; they refused to walk in His Law,
11
and forgot His works and His wonders that He had shown them.
12
He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13
He divided the sea and caused them to pass through; and He made the waters stand up like a heap.
14
In the daytime also He led them with the cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
15
He split the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink in abundance from the depths.
16
He also brought streams out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17
But they sinned even more against Him by rebelling against the Most High in the wilderness.
18
And they tested the Mighty God in their heart by asking for food for the lust of their soul.
19
Yes, they spoke against God: They said, Can the Mighty God set a table in the wilderness?
20
Behold, He struck the rock, so that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide flesh for His people?
21
Therefore Jehovah heard this and was furious; so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel,
22
because they did not believe in God, and did not trust in His salvation;
23
though He had commanded the clouds above, and opened the doors of the heavens,
24
had rained down manna upon them to eat, and given them of the grain of the heavens.
25
Men ate the bread of the mighty; He sent them food to the full.
26
He caused an east wind to blow in the heavens; and by His power He brought in the south wind.
27
He also rained flesh upon them like the dust, and winged birds like the sand of the seas;
28
and He let them fall into the midst of their camp, all around their dwellings.
29
So they ate and were abundantly satisfied, for He gave them their own desire.
30
They were not deprived of their lust; but while their food was still in their mouths,
31
the wrath of God came upon them, and killed the fattest of them, and struck down the choice men of Israel.
32
For all this they still sinned, and did not believe in His wondrous works.
33
Therefore He brought an end to their days in vanity, and their years in dismay.
34
When He killed them, then they sought after Him; and they returned and sought earnestly for the Mighty God.
35
Then they remembered that God was their rock, and the Most High God was the One who redeemed them.
36
Nevertheless they deceived Him with their mouths, and they lied to Him with their tongues;
37
for their heart was not steadfast with Him, nor were they faithful in His covenant.
38
But He, being compassionate, forgave their iniquity, and did not destroy them; yea, many a time He turned His anger away, and did not stir up all His wrath;
39
for He remembered that they were but flesh, a breath that passes away and does not come again.
40
How often they provoked Him in the wilderness, and grieved Him in the desert!
41
Yea, they turned back and tempted the Mighty God, and troubled the Holy One of Israel.
42
They did not remember His hand, the day when He ransomed them from the enemy,
43
when He brought to pass His signs in Egypt, and His wonders in the fields of Zoan;
44
turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, so that they could not drink.
45
He sent swarms of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
46
He also gave their crops to the caterpillar, and their labor to the locust.
47
He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycamore trees with frost.
48
He also gave up their cattle to the hail, and their flocks to lightning.
49
He cast upon them His burning anger, wrath, indignation, and distress, by sending evil angels.
50
He made a path for His anger; He did not spare their soul from death, but gave their life over to the plague,
51
and struck all the firstborn in Egypt, the first of their strength in the tents of Ham.
52
But He made His own people go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock;
53
and He led them on safely, so that they did not fear; but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54
And He brought them to the border of His sanctuary, this mountain which His right hand had acquired.
55
He also drove out the nations before them, allotted them an inheritance by a surveyor's line, and made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.
56
Yet they tested and provoked the Most High God, and did not keep His Testimonies,
57
but turned back and acted unfaithfully like their fathers; they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
58
For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images.
59
When God heard this, He was angry, and greatly despised Israel,
60
so that He forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which He had placed among men,
61
and delivered His strength into captivity, and His glory into the enemy's hand.
62
He also gave His people over to the sword, and was angry with His inheritance.
63
The fire consumed their young men, and their maidens were not given in marriage.
64
Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation.
65
Then the Lord awoke as if from sleep, like a mighty man overcome with wine.
66
And He struck His enemies; He put them to a perpetual reproach.
67
Moreover He rejected the tent of Joseph, and did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,
68
but chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion which He loved.
69
And He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which He has founded forever.
70
He also chose David His servant, and took him from the sheepfolds;
71
from following the ewes nursing their young He brought him, to shepherd Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance.
72
So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
Psalm 105:1-106

Oh, give thanks unto Jehovah! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the people!

Sing unto Him, make music unto Him; talk of all His wondrous works!
3
Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek Jehovah!
4
Seek Jehovah and His strength; seek His face continually!
5
Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the justice of His mouth,

O seed of Abraham His servant, you children of Jacob, His elect.
7
He is Jehovah our God; His justice is in all the earth.

He remembers His covenant forever, the Word which He commanded, to a thousand generations,

the covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac,

and confirmed it unto Jacob for a statute, to Israel as a perpetual covenant,

saying: To you will I give the land of Canaan as the allotment of your inheritance;

He permitted no one to do them wrong; yea, He reproved kings for their sakes,

saying, Do not touch My anointed, and do My prophets no harm.

Moreover He called for a famine in the land; He broke the whole staff of bread.

He sent a man before them; Joseph, who was sold as a slave.

They hurt his feet with fetters, he was laid in irons,
19
until the time that his word came to pass. The Word of Jehovah had refined him.
20
The king sent and released him, the ruler of the people let him go free.

He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his possessions,
22
to bind his princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom.

Israel also came into Egypt, and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

He increased His people greatly, and made them stronger than their enemies.

He turned their heart to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants.

He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron whom He had chosen.

They performed His signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.

He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they did not rebel against His Word.

He turned their waters into blood, and killed their fish.

Their land brought forth frogs in swarms, even in the chambers of their kings.

He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats in all their territory.

He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.

He struck their vines also, and their fig trees, and shattered the trees of their territory.

He also destroyed all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their vigor.

He also brought them out with silver and gold, and there was no one feeble among their tribes.

Egypt was glad when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen upon them.

He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light at night.

They asked, and He brought quail, and satisfied them with the bread of Heaven.

He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; it ran in the dry places like a river.

For He remembered His holy promise, and Abraham His servant.
43
He brought out His people with joy, His elect with gladness.
44
He gave them the lands of the nations, and they inherited the labor of the peoples,
45
that they might keep His statutes and guard His Laws. Praise YAH!
Psalm 111:4
He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; Jehovah is gracious and full of compassion.
Jeremiah 23:7
Therefore, behold, the days come, says Jehovah, that they shall no longer say, Jehovah lives, who brought the sons of Israel up out of the land of Egypt;

Daniel 9:6-15

And we have not heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our rulers, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us the shame of face, as it is this day to the men of Judah, and to those living in Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near and who are afar in all the lands where You have driven them for their unfaithfulness which they have trespassed against You.

O Lord, shame of face belongs to us, to our kings, to our rulers and to our fathers, because we have sinned against You.

To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against Him.

We have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His laws which he set before us by His servants the prophets.

Yea, all Israel has transgressed Your Law and turned aside so as not to obey Your voice. For this reason the curse has poured out on us, and the oath that is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.

And He has confirmed His Words which He spoke against us, and against our judges who judged us, by bringing on us a great evil. For under the whole heavens it has never been done as has been done to Jerusalem.

As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this evil has come on us. Yet we did not make our prayer before Jehovah our God that we might turn from our depravities and understand Your truth.

And Jehovah has looked on the evil and has brought it upon us. For Jehovah our God is righteous in all His works which He does. For we did not obey His voice.
15
And now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and made for Yourself a name, as it is this day; we have sinned; we have done wickedly.
