And there is no one who calls upon Your name, who stirs up himself to take hold of You. For You have hidden Your face from us, and have melted us away because of our iniquities.

Have all the workers of iniquity not known, eating up My people as they eat bread? They have not called upon Jehovah.

Pour out Your wrath upon the nations that have not known You, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon Your name.

Pour out Your fury on the nations who do not know You, and on the families who do not call on Your name; for they have eaten up Jacob and have devoured him, and have destroyed him, and have made his dwelling place desolate.

As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this evil has come on us. Yet we did not make our prayer before Jehovah our God that we might turn from our depravities and understand Your truth.

And the pride of Israel testifies to his face. And they do not return to Jehovah their God, nor seek Him for all this.

When they go, I will spread My net upon them; I will bring them down like the birds of the heavens; I will chastise them, according to the report their congregation heard.

And they have not cried to Me with their heart, when they wailed on their beds. They assemble themselves for grain and wine; they turn aside from Me.

O Israel, return to Jehovah your God, for you have stumbled by your iniquity.

Take words with you and return to Jehovah. Say to Him, Take away all iniquity and receive us with grace, that we may repay with the calves of our lips.

You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.

You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your lusts.

Yet they say to the Mighty God, Depart from us, for we do not desire the knowledge of Your ways.

Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him? And what profit do we have if we entreat Him?

Will the Mighty God hear his cry when distress comes upon him?

Will he delight in the Almighty? Will he always call upon God?

Thus says Jehovah, What injustice have your fathers found in Me, that they have gone far from Me and have walked after vanity, and have become vain?

Has a nation changed their gods, which are not gods? But My people have changed their Glory for that which does not profit.

For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me, the Fountain of Living Waters, to hew out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.

O My people, what have I done to you? And how have I made you weary? Testify against Me.

And you have said, Behold, what weariness. And you have sniffed at it, says Jehovah of Hosts. And you bring what was stolen, and the lame, and the sick; and you bring the grain offering. Should I accept it from your hand? says Jehovah.

You have said, It is vain to serve God. And, What profit is it that we have kept His charge, and that we have walked as mourners before Jehovah of Hosts?

From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

Then Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the Words of eternal life.
