Now therefore, what have I here, says Jehovah, that My people are taken away for nothing? Those who rule make them howl, says Jehovah; and My name is continually blasphemed every day.

Rise up and depart. This is not your rest, for it is unclean. It shall destroy with grievous destruction.

All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.

Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and set up a pillar for himself, which is in the King's Valley; for he thought, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance. He called the pillar after his own name. And to this day it is called Absalom's Monument.

And they buried him in his own tomb, which he had made for himself in the City of David; and they laid him in the bed which was filled with spices and various ingredients prepared in a mixture of ointments; and they made a very great burning for him.

with kings and counselors of the earth, who built desolate places for themselves;

and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.
