Now David had thought to himself, Surely in vain I have protected all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing has been missing of all that belongs to him. And he has repaid me evil for good.

God do so, and more also, to the enemies of David, if I leave to him by morning light any of those who urinate against a wall.

And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king; therefore we also have more in David than you. And they said, Should he treat our sister like a harlot?

And Absalom spoke to his brother Amnon neither good nor bad. For Absalom hated Amnon, because he had humbled his sister Tamar.

Then Jonadab the son of Shimeah, David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose they have killed all the young men, the king's sons, for only Amnon has died. For at the mouth of Absalom this has been determined since the day that he humbled his sister Tamar.
