Thus Rehoboam reigned over the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah.

And King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute, but all Israel stoned him with stones, and he died. Therefore King Rehoboam mounted his chariot in haste to flee to Jerusalem.

Thus Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David to this day.

And it came to pass when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come back, that they sent for him and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel. There was no one who followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.

And it came to pass in the fifth year of King Rehoboam that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem.

And he took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah and the treasures of the king's house; he took away everything. He also took away all the gold shields which Solomon had made.

And King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place, and committed them to the hands of the chief runners who guarded the door to the king's house.

And whenever the king went to the house of Jehovah, the runners carried them, then brought them back into the guardroom.
