Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise;

provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest;

The hand of the diligent shall rule, but the slothful shall be under servitude.

The slothful does not roast his game taken in hunting, but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

The soul of the sluggard desires and has nothing, but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

The way of the sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the way of the upright is a highway.

A sluggard puts his hand in a dish, and he will not even return it to his mouth.

The sluggard will not plow; after the autumn he shall beg during harvest and have nothing.

The sluggard says, There is a lion outside! I shall be killed in the streets!

I went by the field of the lazy man, and by the vineyard of the man lacking heart;

Then I saw; I set my heart on it; I observed and received instruction.

so shall your poverty come like a prowler, and your want like an armed man.

The sluggard says, There is a lion in the way! A lion is in the streets!

The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can answer with taste.

But his lord answered and said to him, You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter.
