A fool's anger is known in a day, but the prudent one covers shame.

He who is slow to wrath is of great understanding, but he who is impatient exalts folly.

A wrathful man stirs up strife, but one who is slow to anger calms the dispute.

He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

The beginning of strife is like letting out water; therefore leave off contention, before it breaks out.

Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;

bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

It is an honor for a man to cease from strife, but every fool exposes himself.

If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;

And when Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, Perhaps Joseph will hold a grudge against us, and return and repay us for all the evil which we did unto him.

Thus you shall say to Joseph: I beg you, please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you. Now, please, forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father. And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

And Joseph said to them, Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God?

Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones. And he comforted them and spoke to their hearts.

But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who abuse you and persecute you,

that you may become sons of your Father in Heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Then Peter came to Him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?

Jesus said to him, I do not say to you, Until seven times, but until seventy times seven.

If it is possible, as for yourself, be at peace with all men.

Therefore if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.

Therefore be imitators of God as beloved children.
