It is as jest to a fool to do wickedness; so is wisdom to a man of understanding.

Fools mock at sin, but among the upright there is favor.

Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death;

so is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, Was I not joking?

One who despises his neighbor is without heart, but a man of understanding keeps quiet.

A wise one fears and departs from evil, but the fool rages and is confident.

And to man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding.

The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise stands eternally.

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show his works out of good conduct, in the meekness of wisdom.
