And he said to him, I too am a prophet as you are, and an angel has spoken to me by the Word of Jehovah, saying, Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied to him.

And it happened, as they sat at the table, that the Word of Jehovah came to the prophet who had brought him back;

but you turned back, ate bread, and drank water in the place of which He said to you, Eat no bread and drink no water, your corpse shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.

So the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, Shall I go against Ramoth Gilead to fight, or shall I refrain? And they said, Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.

And Jehovah said, Who will persuade Ahab to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead? So one said this, and another was saying that.

And Jehovah said to him, In what way? And he said, I will go out and be a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets. And Jehovah said, You shall entice him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.

So are the paths of all who forget the Mighty God; and the hope of the ungodly shall perish,

so that the hypocrite should not reign, lest the people be ensnared.

For it is not an enemy who reproaches me, then I could bear it. It is not one who hates me who magnified himself against me, or I would hide myself from him;

He has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; he has broken his covenant.

His flattery has been with forked tongue, and war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

But you say, Whoever says to his father or mother, Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God;

Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

And in vain they revere Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.

But He answered and said, Every plant which My Heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.

Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.

Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

And then the lawless one will be unveiled, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.

and with all unrighteous deception among those who are perishing, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, being devoted to corrupting spirits and doctrines of demons,

forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be partaken with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.

By covetousness they will exploit you with well-turned words; whose judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul,

to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things,

who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perversities of the wicked,

to deliver you from the strange woman, from the foreigner who flatters with her words,

Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.

Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you.

For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life,

to keep you from the evil woman, from the seductiveness of the foreign tongue.

So when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

For false christs and false prophets will arise and show signs and wonders to cause, if possible, even the elect to go astray.

But take heed; behold, I have foretold you all things.

till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the full true knowledge of the Son of God, to a complete man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the unlearned and unstable twist, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that not any lie is of the truth.

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will remain in Him.
