Surely He scorns the scorners, but He gives grace to the lowly.

The wise inherit honor, but the exaltation of fools is shame.

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

It is better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoils with the proud.

The king spoke and said, Is this not great Babylon that I have built for the house of the kingdom, by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?

And you shall be driven from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. You shall be fed with grass like oxen, and seven times shall pass over you until you know that the Most High is Ruler in the kingdom of men, and that He gives it to whomever He desires.

When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in the best place, lest one more honorable than you be invited by him;

But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes he may say to you, Friend, go up higher. Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the table with you.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

The fear of Jehovah is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility.

Now concerning sacrifices to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.
