The appearance of the glory of Jehovah was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain before the eyes of the children of Israel.

And Moses said to him, As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands to Jehovah. The thunder shall cease, and there shall be no more hail; that you may know that the earth is Jehovah's.

And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh and spread out his hands to Jehovah. And the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.

And Jehovah came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And Jehovah called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.

And he was there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

When I went up into the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which Jehovah had made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water.

And I fell down before Jehovah, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you had sinned in doing evil in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke Him to anger.

Thus I prostrated myself before Jehovah; forty days and forty nights I kept prostrating myself, because Jehovah had thought to annihilate you.

And, as at the first time, I stayed in the mountain forty days and forty nights; Jehovah also had given heed to me at that time, and Jehovah had consented to not destroy you.

And he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God.

And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.

And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to Him.

being tried for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.
