And they judged the people at all times; the hard matters they brought to Moses, but they judged every small matter themselves.

For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing.

And the son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name and cursed; and so they brought him to Moses. (His mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.)

And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation.

And they stood before Moses, before Eleazar the priest, and before the leaders and all the congregation, at the door of the tent of meeting, saying:

Now the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near and spoke before Moses and before the leaders, the chief fathers of the children of Israel.

You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid of any man's presence, for the judgment is God's. And any matter that is too hard for you, bring to me, and I will hear it.

If a matter arises which is too hard for you to judge, between blood and blood, between dispute and dispute, or between stroke and stroke, matters of controversy within your gates, then you shall arise and go up to the place which Jehovah your God chooses.

And you shall come to the priests, the Levites, and to the judge who is there in those days, and inquire; and they shall declare to you the judgment of the case.

Both you and these people who are with you will droop to exhaustion. For this thing is too much of a burden for you; you are not able to do it by yourself.

And I will come down and speak with you there. And I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will lay upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you not bear it yourself alone.
