And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were pulling up after them. And they were greatly afraid, and the children of Israel cried out unto Jehovah.

And Moses cried out to Jehovah, saying, What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me!

and call on Me in the day of trouble; and I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

Moses and Aaron were among His priests, and Samuel was among those who called upon His name; they called upon Jehovah, and He answered them.

Then Jehovah said to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before Me, My soul could not be inclined toward this people. Send them out of My sight, and let them go out.

And he went out to the spring of the water, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus says Jehovah: I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.

So he said, Then bring some flour. And he put it into the pot, and said, Pour it out for the people, that they may eat. And there was nothing harmful in the pot.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

And the people said to Joshua, No, but we will serve Jehovah!

Now therefore, he said, put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto Jehovah the God of Israel.

So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and established for them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

And Jehovah said to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from the heavens for you. And the people shall go out and gather in this matter day by day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My Law or not.

And you shall remember that Jehovah your God has led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers had not known, to humble you and to test you, to do you good in the end;

you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for Jehovah your God is testing you to know whether you love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

so that through them I may test Israel, whether they will keep the way of Jehovah, to walk in it as their fathers have kept it, or not.

Now these are the nations which Jehovah left, that He might test Israel by them, that is, all who had not known any of the wars in Canaan

And they were left, that He might test Israel by them, to know whether they would obey the commandments of Jehovah, which He had commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

For You have tried us, O God; You have refined us, as silver is refined.

You called in distress, and I rescued you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah

The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, but Jehovah tries the hearts.

Therefore thus says Jehovah of Hosts, Behold, I will refine them and try them; for how else shall I deal with the daughter of My people?

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,

that the testing of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found unto praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
