i1 [A Psalm of David.] i0 par I will cry unto You, O Jehovah my Rock: Do not be silent to me, lest, if You be deaf to me, I become like those who go down into the pit.

What profit is there in my blood, in going down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?

Answer me speedily, O Jehovah; my spirit wastes away! Do not hide Your face from me, lest I be like those who go down into the pit.

My spirit is broken, my days are extinguished, the grave is ready for me.

Behold, instead of peace I was bitter with bitterness; but You have delighted in delivering my soul from the pit of corruption. You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

For Sheol cannot thank You, death cannot praise You; those who go down into the pit cannot hope for Your truth.

then I will bring you down with those who descend into the Pit, with the people of old, and I will make you dwell in the lowest part of the earth, in places desolate from antiquity, with those who go down to the Pit, so that you may never be inhabited; and I shall establish glory in the land of the living.

I went down to the bases of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me forever. Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.

Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,

I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind; I am like a broken vessel.

For I am lowly and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

My knees totter from fasting, and my flesh has become lean of fatness.

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

For though He was crucified out of weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.
