And I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and cast your carcasses upon the carcasses of your idols; and My soul shall abhor you.

then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you, destroy all their carved figures, destroy all their images, and annihilate all their high places;

You shall destroy to blot out all the places where the nations which you are dispossessing have served their gods, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree.

You shall not do so unto Jehovah your God.

For when I brought them into the land concerning which I had raised My hand and sworn to give it to them, and they saw all the high hills and all the thick trees, there they offered their sacrifices and provoked Me with their offerings. There they also sent up their soothing aroma and poured out their drink offerings.

Then I said to them, What is this high place to which you go? And its name is called Bamah to this day.

How long, Jehovah? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy burn like fire?

(for you shall bow down to no other god, for Jehovah, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous Mighty God),

They provoked Him to jealousy with strange gods; with abominations they provoked Him to anger.

They sacrificed to demons, not to God, to gods they had not known, to new gods come lately, that your fathers had not feared.

They have provoked Me to jealousy by what is not the Mighty God; they have moved Me to anger by their vanities. So I will provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a people; I will move them to anger by a foolish nation.

and they forsook Jehovah the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt; and they went after other gods from among the gods of the people who were all around them, and they bowed down to them; and they provoked Jehovah to anger.

And the anger of Jehovah burned against Israel; and He said, Because this nation has transgressed My covenant which I have commanded their fathers, and has not obeyed My voice,

And He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and the heavens, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the north gate of the inner court, where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which provokes to jealousy.

Then He said to me, Son of man, lift up your eyes now toward the north. So I lifted up my eyes toward the north, and behold, toward the north at the gate of the altar, was this image of jealousy at the entrance.

Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

Let all be put to shame who serve graven images, who boast of idols. Bow down before Him, all you gods.

You shall not make for yourself a graven image, or any likeness of anything in the heavens above, or in the earth beneath, or in the waters under the earth;

you shall not bow down to them nor serve them; for I, Jehovah your God, am a jealous Mighty God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

that you not act corruptly and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of any statue: male or female figures,

the figure of anything that creeps on the ground or the figure of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth.

But Jehovah has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be His people, an inheritance, as you are this day.

But I shall die in this land, I shall not cross over the Jordan; but you shall cross over and possess that good land.

For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire, a jealous Mighty God.

Cursed is the one who makes a graven or molten image, an abomination to Jehovah, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen!

And the children of Israel did evil in the eyes of Jehovah, and served the Baals;

Yet they would not heed their judges, but they committed adultery with other gods, and bowed down to them. They turned quickly from the way in which their fathers had walked, to obey the commandments of Jehovah; they did not do so.

And the children of Israel again did evil in the eyes of Jehovah, and served the Baals and Ashtaroth, the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook Jehovah and did not serve Him.

And Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.

and had charged him concerning this thing, that he should not depart after other gods; but he had not kept what Jehovah had charged.

He made houses on the high places, and made priests from among all the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.

Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a distant land. Is not Jehovah in Zion? Is not her King in her? Why have they provoked Me to anger with their graven images, with foreign vanities?

And now they sin more and more, and they have made themselves molten images of their silver, idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen. They say of them, Let the men who sacrifice kiss the calves.
