For His anger is but for a moment; in His favor is life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

For You, O Jehovah, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.

You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; and Your right hand has held me up, and Your meekness has made me great.

You enlarged the place for my steps under me, so that my feet have not slipped.

For they did not take the land into possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, and Your arm, and the light of Your face, because You favored them.

For You are the glory of their strength, and in Your favor our horn is exalted.

You have granted me life and favor, and Your care has preserved my spirit.

He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and secured my steps.

And now, Jehovah, You are God, and have promised this goodness to Your servant.

Now You have been pleased to bless the house of Your servant, that it may be before You forever; for You have blessed it, O Jehovah, and it is blessed forever.

Why do You stand afar off, O Jehovah? Will You hide in times of distress?

How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my inner being daily? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

because of Your indignation and Your wrath; for You have taken me up and cast me away.

You hide Your face, they are dismayed; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.

Answer me speedily, O Jehovah; my spirit wastes away! Do not hide Your face from me, lest I be like those who go down into the pit.

But when I looked for good, evil came; and when I waited for light, then came darkness.

I have walked about in the dark, not in the sun; I have stood up in the assembly and cried out for help.

My skin has grown black on me; my bones are burned with dryness.

Behold, instead of peace I was bitter with bitterness; but You have delighted in delivering my soul from the pit of corruption. You have cast all my sins behind Your back.
