Why do You stand afar off, O Jehovah? Will You hide in times of distress?

i1 [To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.] i0 par How long will You forget me, O Jehovah? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

Consider and answer me, O Jehovah my God; enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

You have seen this, O Jehovah; do not keep silent; O Jehovah, do not be far from me.

Forsake me not, O Jehovah; O my God, be not far from me!

I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, where the floods have overflowed me.

Draw near to My soul, and redeem it; deliver Me because of My enemies.

O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me!

Behold, the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you are scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.

who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who had the power to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,

For He shall deliver the needy when he cries, and the lowly who has no helper.

Look on my right hand and see, for there is no one who acknowledges me; refuge has vanished from me; no one cares for my soul.

Give attention to my cry, for I am brought very low; rescue me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I.

For Jehovah will judge His people and have compassion on His servants, when He sees that their power is gone, and there is no one remaining, bond or free.

But all this is happening that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.

And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man!

Then he began to curse and swear, saying, I do not know the Man! And immediately a rooster crowed.
