Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.

Blessed is he who has the Mighty God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in Jehovah his God,

who set out to go down to Egypt and have not asked at My mouth, to strengthen themselves in the refuge of Pharaoh and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

Therefore the refuge of Pharaoh shall be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt shall be your reproach.

For thus says the Lord Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel, In returning and rest you shall be saved; and in quietness and confidence shall be your strength. But you were not willing.

One thousand shall flee at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five you shall flee, until you are left as a beacon on the top of a mountain, and as a sign on a hill.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and lean on horses and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are so very strong; but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor do they seek Jehovah!

Then Assyria shall fall by the sword, not of man; and the sword, not of mankind, shall devour him. For he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall become forced labor.

Lo, you trust in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; on which, if a man leans on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.

But if you say to me, We trust in Jehovah our God; is it not He whose high places and altars Hezekiah has taken away, and said to Judah and Jerusalem, You shall bow down before this altar?

When they took hold of you by the hand, you broke and tore all their shoulders; when they leaned on you, you broke and made all their loins stand.
