And it came to pass after many days that the king of Egypt died. And the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.

Therefore go now and work; for no straw shall be given you, yet you shall deliver the amount of bricks.

And the officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in a bad way after it was said, You shall not diminish any bricks from the matter day by day.

And they put away the foreign gods from among them and served Jehovah. And His soul was grieved because of Israel's troubles.

And the people, the rulers of Gilead, said to one another, Who is the man who will begin the fight against the sons of Ammon? He shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

And the Philistines took him and bored out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza. They bound him with bronze fetters, and he was grinding in the prison house.

And Samson said, Let my soul die with the Philistines! And he pushed with all his might, and the house fell upon the rulers and all the people who were in it. So the dead that he killed at his death were more than he had killed in his life.

And it yields much increase to the kings You have set over us, because of our sins; also they have dominion over our bodies and our cattle at their pleasure; and we are in great distress.

These two things have come upon you, who shall be sorry for you? Desolation, and destruction, and famine, and the sword. By whom shall I comfort you?

Your sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets like a wild animal in a net, filled with the fury of Jehovah, the rebuke of your God.

But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, who have said to your soul, Bow down so that we may pass over; and lay your back on the ground, even as the street, for those who cross over.

Now therefore, what have I here, says Jehovah, that My people are taken away for nothing? Those who rule make them howl, says Jehovah; and My name is continually blasphemed every day.

We are pursued on our necks; we labor and have no rest.

We have given the hand to Egypt, to Assyria, to be satisfied with bread.

But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be destitute.

And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the husks that the swine ate, and no one gave to him.

You have also given me the necks of my enemies; so that I annihilated those who hated me.

They cried out for help, but there was no one to deliver; even to Jehovah, but He did not answer them.

Be not far from Me, for trouble is near; for there is no one to help.

Look on my right hand and see, for there is no one who acknowledges me; refuge has vanished from me; no one cares for my soul.

And as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, Help, my lord, O king!

And he said, If Jehovah does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the threshing floor or from the winepress?

And while he was still talking with them, behold, the messenger was coming down to him; and he said, Behold, this evil is from Jehovah; why should I wait for Jehovah any longer?

The Mighty God will not withdraw His anger; those who help the proud lie prostrate beneath Him.

And I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold; therefore My own arm has given victory for Me; and My fury sustained Me.
