How often they provoked Him in the wilderness, and grieved Him in the desert!

You called in distress, and I rescued you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah

And there was no water for the congregation; so they gathered together against Moses and Aaron.

And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the tent of meeting, and they fell on their faces. And the glory of Jehovah appeared to them.

These were the waters of Meribah, because the children of Israel strove with Jehovah, and He was sanctified among them.

And Jehovah spoke to Moses and Aaron, Because you did not believe Me, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given to them.

And Jehovah spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor by the border of the land of Edom, saying:

Aaron shall be gathered to his people, for he shall not enter the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against My mouth at the waters of Meribah.

And when you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was gathered.

For in the wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation, you rebelled against My mouth to sanctify Me at the waters before their eyes. (These are the waters of Meribah, at Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

Jehovah was also angry with me on account of you, saying, You also shall not go in there.

But Jehovah was angry with me on your account, and would not listen to me. And Jehovah said to me: Enough from you! Speak no more to Me of this matter.

Furthermore Jehovah was angry with me on account of your words, and swore that I would not cross over the Jordan, and that I would not enter the good land which Jehovah your God is giving to you as an inheritance.
