Consider and answer me, O Jehovah my God; enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

Hide not Your face from me; turn not Your servant away in anger. You have been my help; do not leave me, nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.

O Jehovah, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was troubled.

Why do You hide Your face, and forget our affliction and distress?

Jehovah, why do You cast off my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me?

Why do You hide Your face, and regard me as Your enemy?

when He works on the left hand, I cannot see Him; when He turns to the right hand, I cannot perceive Him.

When He gives quietness, who then can condemn? And when He hides His face, who then can see Him? It might be against a nation or mankind altogether,
