If I am guilty, why then do I labor in vain?

yet You will plunge me into the pit, and my own clothes would abhor me.

For You write bitter things against me, and make me inherit the iniquities of my youth.

For now You number my steps. Do you not watch over my sin?

Is not your wickedness great, and your iniquities without end?

if I have covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding my iniquity in my bosom,

I am pure, without transgression; I am innocent, and there is no iniquity in me.

Then he observes men and says, I have sinned, and perverted what was right; and it has not been equaled to me.

O Jehovah the God of Hosts, how long will You be angry against the prayer of Your people?

You alone are Jehovah; You have made the heavens, the Heaven of the heavens, with all their host, the earth and everything on it, the seas and all that is in them, and You preserve them all alive. The host of the Heavens bow down before You.

Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O Jehovah, You deliver man and beast.

Am I a sea, or a sea serpent, that You set a guard over me?

For the arrows of the Almighty are within me; my spirit drinks in their poison; the terrors of God are arrayed against me.

I was at ease, but He has shattered me; He also has taken hold on my neck, and dashed me to pieces; He has set me up for His target.

He breaks me with break upon break; He runs at me like a mighty man.

For You will make them turn their back; You will make ready Your arrows on Your strings against their faces.

He has bent His bow and set me as a target for the arrow.

Therefore I will not restrain my mouth; I will speak in the distress of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

For my sighing comes before my food, and my groanings pour out like waters.
