I was at ease, but He has shattered me; He also has taken hold on my neck, and dashed me to pieces; He has set me up for His target.

He breaks me with break upon break; He runs at me like a mighty man.

I will heap evil upon them; I will use up My arrows upon them.

I will make My arrows drunk with blood, and My sword shall devour flesh, with the blood of the slain and the captives, from the heads of the commanders of the enemy.

He has also prepared instruments of death for him; He makes His arrows hotly pursue.

Yea, He sent out His arrows and scattered them; and He shot out lightnings and confounded them.

For You will make them turn their back; You will make ready Your arrows on Your strings against their faces.

For Your arrows pierce me, and Your hand presses down upon me.

Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King's enemies; peoples fall under You.

He has bent His bow and set me as a target for the arrow.

He has caused the arrows of His quiver to enter into my inward parts.

They shall be wasted with hunger, devoured by burning heat and bitter destruction; I will also send against them the teeth of beasts, with the poison of the serpents of the dust.

The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, but who can bear a stricken spirit?

For He crushes me with a tempest, and multiplies my wounds without cause.

Terrors are turned upon me; they pursue my honor as the wind, and my prosperity has vanished like a cloud.

For calamity from the Mighty God is a terror to me, and because of His majesty I could not do such things.

I have been afflicted and ready to die from my youth; I have suffered Your terrors; I am perplexed.

Your fury has passed over me; Your terrors have cut me off.

Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; and we are well known to God, and I also hope are well known in your consciences.
