Though I were perfect, yet I do not know my soul; I despise my life.

It is all one; therefore I have said, He destroys the perfect and the wicked.

If I have been wicked, woe to me! And if I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head; I am full of disgrace. Pay attention to my affliction!

Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him? And what profit do we have if we entreat Him?

For what is the portion from God above, and the inheritance of the Almighty from on high?

For he has said, It profits a man nothing when he is pleasing to God.

Surely I have made my heart pure in vain, and washed my hands in innocence.

You have said, It is vain to serve God. And, What profit is it that we have kept His charge, and that we have walked as mourners before Jehovah of Hosts?
