For He crushes me with a tempest, and multiplies my wounds without cause.

although You know that I am not wicked, and there is no one who can rescue out of Your hand?

For you have said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in Your eyes.

although no violence is in my hands, and my prayer is pure.

My foot has held fast to His steps; I have kept His way and not turned aside.

I have not departed from the Commandment of His lips; I have treasured the Words of His mouth more than my prescribed food.

Far be it from me that I should say you are right. Until I die I will not put away my integrity from me.

I hold fast to my righteousness, and will not let it go; my heart does not reproach any of my days.

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was like a robe and a turban.

If the scourge slays suddenly, He mocks at the despair of the innocent.

I am afraid of all my pain; I know that You will not hold me innocent.

Upright men are astonished at this, and the innocent stirs himself up against the hypocrite.

Yet you say, Because I am innocent, surely His anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with you, because you say, I have not sinned.
