My lovers and my friends stand at a distance from my plague; and my relatives stand afar off.

A man and his friends may be broken up, but there is a love that sticks closer than a brother.

Put no faith in a companion; put no trust in a friend; keep the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom;

for the son dishonors the father; the daughter rises up against her mother; the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

And brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and put them to death.
