Shall horses run on the rock? Or will one plow there with oxen? For you have turned justice into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,

those rejoicing for nothing; who say, Have we not taken horns to ourselves by our own strength?

Woe to you who are full, for you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.

Truly, truly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will become joy.

Lament and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to shame.

And all the king's servants who were in the king's gate bowed and paid homage to Haman, for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai did not bow nor pay homage.

When Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow or pay him homage, Haman was filled with rage.
