And Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of Jehovah until evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they threw dust on their heads.

Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and reported to him the words of Rabshakeh.

And so it was, when King Hezekiah heard it, that he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of Jehovah.

Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell down upon the ground and prostrated himself;

Yet the king and all his servants who heard these words were not afraid, nor did they tear their garments.

They shall not make any bald place on their heads, nor shall they shave the corners of their beards nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

So I contended with them and cursed them, struck some of them and pulled out their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons, or for yourselves.

One has gone up to the house, even to Dibon, the high places, to weep. Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba; baldness shall be on all their heads, and every beard cut off.

Cut off your hair and throw it away, and take up a lamentation on the desolate heights. For Jehovah has rejected and forsaken the generation of His wrath.

For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped. On all the hands shall be cuttings, and on the loins sackcloth.

On all the housetops of Moab, and in its streets, there is weeping for all. For I have broken Moab like a vessel in which no one has pleasure, says Jehovah.

They will also be girded with sackcloth; trembling will cover them; shame will be on every face, and baldness on all their heads.

Make yourself bald, and cut off your hair for your dainty children. Enlarge your baldness like the eagle, for they have gone from you into exile.

So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for days; and was fasting and praying before the God of Heaven.

And when they lifted up their eyes from afar, and did not recognize him, they lifted up their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe and sprinkled dust on their heads toward the heavens.

So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.

Say unto God, How awesome are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies cower before You.

Therefore my spirit is faint within me; my heart within me is desolate.

Then I came to the captives at Tel Abib, who dwelt by the River Chebar; and I sat where they sat, and remained there in shock among them seven days.

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was stunned for a time, and his thoughts troubled him. So the king spoke and said, O Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its interpretation trouble you. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, may the dream be to those who hate you, and its interpretation to your enemies!

And I, Daniel, fainted and was sick for days. Afterward, I got up and did the king's business. And I was astonished at the vision, but did not understand it.
