So the Egyptians made the children of Israel work with harshness.

And they made their lives bitter with hard labor; in mortar, in brick, and in all manner of labor in the field. All their labor in which they made them work was with harshness.

And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land are many now, and you have made them cease from their burdens.

You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.

Let more labor be laid upon the men, that they may work in it, and let them not regard deceptive words.

And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and Jehovah will not answer you in that day.

I was angry with My people, I have polluted My inheritance, and given them into your hand. You have shown them no mercy; upon the aged you have laid your yoke very heavily.

Is not this the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus says Jehovah: You have broken the yokes of wood, but you have made in their place yokes of iron.

For thus says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel, I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. And they shall serve him. And I have given him the beasts of the field also.

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest unto your souls.

Behold, I give you authority to tread over serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

And out of the smoke locusts came forth upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

And it was given to them that they should not kill them, but to torment them for five months. And their torment is like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man.

They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their authority was to hurt men five months.
