And he appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of Jehovah, to commemorate, to thank, and to praise Jehovah the God of Israel:

and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests continually with the trumpets before the ark of the covenant of God.

Thus he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah to minister before the ark continually, according to the matter day by day;

and Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of Jehovah at the high place that was at Gibeon,

and with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest who were chosen, who were designated by name, to give thanks unto Jehovah, because His mercy is eternal;

They have seen Your goings, O God; the goings of my Mighty God, my King, in the sanctuary.

The singers went before, then those playing instruments followed; among them were the maidens playing the timbrels.

Johanan begot Azariah (it was he who served as priest in the house that Solomon built in Jerusalem),

And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, to the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubim.

The poles extended so that the ends of the poles could be seen from the holy place, in front of the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside. And they are there to this day.

And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of Jehovah,

Then Solomon spoke: Jehovah has said that He would dwell in the thick darkness.

These were the singers, heads of fathers of the Levites, who stayed in the chambers, and were free from other duties; for this was their occupation day and night.

So the number of them, with their brethren who were trained in the songs of Jehovah, all with understanding: two hundred and eighty-eight.

The first lot for Asaph came out for Joseph. The second for Gedaliah, him with his brethren and sons; twelve.

The fourth for Jizri, his sons and his brethren; twelve.

The sixth for Bukkiah, his sons and his brethren; twelve.

The eighth for Jeshaiah, his sons and his brethren; twelve.

The tenth for Shimei, his sons and his brethren; twelve.

The twelfth for Hashabiah, his sons and his brethren; twelve.

The fourteenth for Mattithiah, his sons and his brethren; twelve.

The sixteenth for Hananiah, his sons and his brethren; twelve.

The eighteenth for Hanani, his sons and his brethren; twelve.

The twentieth for Eliathah, his sons and his brethren; twelve.

The twenty-second for Giddalti, his sons and his brethren; twelve.

The twenty-fourth for Romamti-Ezer, his sons and his brethren; twelve.

And he stationed the Levites in the house of Jehovah with cymbals, with lutes, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, of Gad the king's seer, and of Nathan the prophet; for thus was the commandment of Jehovah by the hand of his prophets.

And Hezekiah commanded them to offer the burnt offering on the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of Jehovah also began, with the trumpets and by the hand of the instruments of David, king of Israel.

And when they had finished offering, the king and all who were present with him bowed down and prostrated themselves.

And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites according to their divisions, each man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and peace offerings, to serve, to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camp of Jehovah.

And the singers, the sons of Asaph, were in their places, according to the command of David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer. Also the gatekeepers were at each gate; they did not leave their service, because their brethren the Levites prepared for them.

When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of Jehovah, the priests stood in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise Jehovah, according to the ordinance of David king of Israel.

And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to Jehovah: For He is good, for His mercy is eternal toward Israel. Then all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised Jehovah, because the foundation of the house of Jehovah was laid.

They assigned the priests to their divisions and the Levites to their divisions, over the service of God in Jerusalem, as it is written in the book of Moses.

Mattaniah the son of Micha, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, the leader who began the thanksgiving with prayer; Bakbukiah, the second among his brethren; and Abda the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.

Moreover the gatekeepers, Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren who kept the gates, were one hundred and seventy-two.

But the temple slaves dwelt in Ophel. And Ziha and Gishpa were over the temple slaves.

For it was the king's command concerning them that there should be financial support for the singers, a quota for each day.

Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites in all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to attend to the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgiving and singing, with cymbals and lutes and harps.

And the sons of the singers gathered together from the countryside around Jerusalem, from the villages of Netophah,

Both the singers and the gatekeepers kept the charge of their God and the charge of the purification, according to the command of David and Solomon his son.

In the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah all Israel gave the portions for the singers and the gatekeepers, a portion for each day. They also consecrated holy things for the Levites, and the Levites consecrated them for the sons of Aaron.
