Thus Edom has been in revolt against the hand of Judah to this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom, and they made a circuit of a seven days' journey; and there was no water for the camp, nor for the cattle at their feet.

Then he took his firstborn son who would have reigned in his place, and offered him as a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great wrath against Israel; so they departed from him and returned to their own land.

By your sword you shall live, and you shall serve your brother; and it shall come to pass, when you become restless, that you shall break his yoke from your neck.

In his days the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.

Thus Edom has been in revolt from under the hand of Judah to this day. At that time Libnah revolted from under his hand, because he had forsaken Jehovah the God of his fathers.

He also put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David's servants. And Jehovah gave victory to David wherever he went.

There was then no king in Edom, only a deputy of the king.
