Therefore the king took counsel, made two calves of gold, and said to them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Behold your gods, O Israel, which brought you up from the land of Egypt!

Now this thing became a sin, for the people went before the one, even as far as Dan.

And Jeroboam instituted a feast on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, like the feast that was in Judah, and offered sacrifices on the altar. Thus he did at Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made. And at Bethel he installed the priests of the high places which he had made.

Israel, though you commit fornication, do not let Judah become guilty. And do not come to Gilgal, nor go up to Beth-aven, nor swear, As Jehovah lives.

The inhabitants of Samaria shall dread because of the calves of Beth-aven. For its people shall mourn over it; also its priests shall tremble over it, over its glory, because it has departed from it.

Thus it shall be done to you, O Bethel, because of your great wickedness. At dawn, the king of Israel shall be completely cut off.

For in the day that I punish the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also attend to the altars of Bethel. And the horns of the altar will be cut off and fall to the ground.

Come to Bethel and transgress; multiply transgression at Gilgal; and bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every third year;

But do not seek Bethel, and do not enter Gilgal, and do not cross over to Beer-sheba; for Gilgal shall be exiled into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nothing.

But do not again prophesy at Bethel any more, for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is the royal house.

Even young children despise me; I arise, and they speak against me.

Surely He would not stretch out His hand against a heap of ruins. Behold, they cry out for help when He destroys it.

But when I looked for good, evil came; and when I waited for light, then came darkness.

I have walked about in the dark, not in the sun; I have stood up in the assembly and cried out for help.

My skin has grown black on me; my bones are burned with dryness.

Even a child is known by his deeds, whether his work is pure and right.

Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Therefore remove vexation from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh; for childhood and youth are vanity.

Woe, sinful nation, a people heavy with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children who corrupt! They have forsaken Jehovah; they have scorned the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged backward.

And the people shall be oppressed, man against man, every man by his neighbor. The youth will be insolent against the elder, and the dishonorable against the honorable.

The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes to the Queen of Heaven and to pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger.

And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, playing.

But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, to make the wrath of Jehovah swell up against His people, till there was no healing.

Still others had trial of mockings and floggings, yes, and of bonds and imprisonment.

And when they had woven a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.

and saying, You who destroys the temple and builds it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.

He saved others; He has no power to save Himself. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.
