Thus says the king: Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand;

You correct a man for iniquity with rebukes, and you make his desires vanish away like a moth. Surely every man is vanity. Selah.

Have mercy upon us, O Jehovah, have mercy upon us! For we are more than enough held in contempt.

Our soul has more than enough of the derision of those who are at ease, with the contempt of the proud who oppress us.

For thus says Jehovah, We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.

Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it; it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

I will go and return to My place until they confess their guilt and seek My face. In their affliction they will seek Me earnestly.

Come, and let us return to Jehovah. For He has torn, and He will heal us. He has stricken, and He will bind us up.

harden not your hearts, as in the strife, as in the day of testing in the wilderness,

while it is said: Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the provocation.

For some who came out of Egypt through Moses, however not all, having heard, provoked.

As a woman with child draws near to giving birth, she writhes and cries out in her pangs; so have we been in Your sight, O Jehovah.

We have conceived; we have writhed in pain; but we have given birth (as it were) to wind. We have not produced any salvation in the earth; nor have the inhabitants of the world fallen out in birth.

Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth, says Jehovah? Shall I beget, and then restrain the womb? says your God.

The pangs of a woman giving birth shall come upon him; he is an unwise son, for he does not stay long where children are born.
