Now it came to pass, when David had been dwelling in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Behold now, I am dwelling in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of Jehovah is under curtains.

But it happened that night that the Word of God came to Nathan, saying,

For I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel, even to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.

Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, Thus says Jehovah of Hosts: I have taken you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people Israel.

Moreover I have established a place for My people Israel, and have planted them, that they may dwell in their place and move no more, for the sons of wickedness to wear them out anymore, as previously,

And it shall be, when your days have been fulfilled to go to your fathers, that I will raise up your seed after you from your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

I will be his Father, and he shall be My son; and I will not take My mercy away from him, as I took it from him who was before you.

According to all these words and according to all this vision, thus Nathan spoke to David.

At the end of twelve months, he was walking in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

The king spoke and said, Is this not great Babylon that I have built for the house of the kingdom, by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?

And Jehovah gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; Jehovah delivered all their enemies into their hand.

Now it came to pass, many days after Jehovah had given rest to Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua had grown old and advanced in age.

But now Jehovah my God has given me rest all around; there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence.

And he built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had rest; he had no war in those years, because Jehovah had given him rest.

i1 [To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David, the servant of Jehovah, who spoke unto Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. And he said,] i0 par I love You, O Jehovah, my strength.

When a man's ways please Jehovah, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

To grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear,

in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.
