For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will obliterate from off the face of the earth all living substance that I have made.

And the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it was high above the earth.

And Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

When I went up into the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which Jehovah had made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water.

And I fell down before Jehovah, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you had sinned in doing evil in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke Him to anger.

And, as at the first time, I stayed in the mountain forty days and forty nights; Jehovah also had given heed to me at that time, and Jehovah had consented to not destroy you.

And he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God.

And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
