And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning at the threshing floor of Atad, they said, This is a great mourning of the Egyptians. Therefore its name was called Abel Mizraim, which is on the other side of Jordan.

These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel on this side of the Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain opposite Suph, between Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

And when the days of his weeping were past, Joseph spoke to the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

He who touches a man, his soul having died, shall be unclean seven days.

And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. And the days of weeping and mourning for Moses ended.

And they took their bones and buried them under the tamarisk tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

Then David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son,

So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.

And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
