In this manner you shall be tested: By the life of Pharaoh, you shall not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here.

Send one of you, and let him bring your brother; and you shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proven to see whether there is any truth in you; or else, by the life of Pharaoh, surely you are spies!

And bring your youngest brother to me; so your words will be verified, and you shall not die. And they did so.

And they set him a place by himself, and them by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves; because the Egyptians could not eat food with the Hebrews, for that is an abomination to the Egyptians.

And you shall remember that Jehovah your God has led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers had not known, to humble you and to test you, to do you good in the end;

you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for Jehovah your God is testing you to know whether you love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love through the diligence of others.
