The wicked man writhes with pain all his days, and the number of years is stored up for the ruthless.

He does not believe that he will return from darkness, for a sword watches for him.

Adversity and distress terrify him; they overpower him, like a king ready for the attack.

The wicked is cast down in his wickedness, but the righteous has refuge in his death.

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.

And they shall look to the land; and behold, trouble and darkness and gloom of anguish! And they shall be thrust into darkness.
