Then I praised gladness, because a man has no better thing under the sun than to eat and to drink and to be glad; for that shall remain with him of his labor for the days of his life which God gives him under the sun.

But behold, joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine, saying, Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!

If like other men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what profit is it to me, if the dead are not raised? Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!

Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe His Word,

And Jehovah said to Me, Throw it to the potter, the magnificent price at which I was valued by them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of Jehovah.

But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business.

and said, What will you give me, and I will deliver Him to you? And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver.

But they all with one accord began to decline. The first said to him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.

And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

Behold, you despisers, marvel and perish. For I work a work in your days, a work which you will by no means believe, though one were to declare it to you.

For many conduct themselves, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ:

whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and who glory in their shame; who set their mind on earthly things.

that there be no prostitute or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food gave away his birthright.

For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.
